One of the big food delivery majors surprised everyone when Zomato announced the parent company would henceforth be rebranded as Eternal Ltd, effective from 6 February 2025, a significant change in the corporate strategy for long-term structural reform. Under the new appellation, therefore, it means much more than just a fancy name change into something that shows a more heterogeneous business model by being more versatile than just its food delivery proposition.
The company is not just about food anymore. Zomato has begun to enter into various other sectors like quick commerce, B2B supply chains, logistics, and the list goes on. According to Deepinder Goyal, “The changed name was a step in the right direction toward representing the vision of a long-term sustainable business model”. He explained, “The name Eternal embodies the timeless and enduring nature we want to bring to the company. It is a name that reflects sustainability, resilience, and long-term relevance.”
Zomato’s new parent company, Eternal Ltd., will now serve as the umbrella corporation under which Zomato’s existing ventures and new business units will operate. The Zomato food delivery platform will continue to be a core business unit, but it will no longer be the only focus of the company. Instead, Eternal Ltd. will manage a wider portfolio that includes Blinkit, Hyperpure, and other expanding business areas.
The process of naming the parent company was carefully thought out. The company is now not limited to mere food delivery services. According to CEO Deepinder Goyal, Eternal Ltd. will now operate in all aspects like quick commerce, B2B supply, logistics, and so on. This would indicate that such a prospect, that comes in the future, is poised as not being just a food delivery business but as an enterprise with diversified businesses.
Eternal Ltd. will now serve as the parent brand under which Zomato and its other business ventures, like Blinkit and Hyperpure, will operate. Zomato, while still an essential part of the company, will now function as one of the business units, alongside other expanding units under Eternal Ltd.
The name change is just a part of the rebranding; however, it indicates the long-term vision of Eternal Ltd. regarding growth and sustainability. The company’s strategic move is to evolve into a multi-dimensional business encompassing a range of services apart from the food industry. Including Blinkit for rapid product delivery and Hyperpure for restaurant supplies fits into the company’s objective of becoming a comprehensive player in all business segments.
According to the words of the Chief Executive Officer of Eternal Ltd., Deepinder Goyal, “The name Eternal” symbolizes sustainability and long-term success. It is a name that will endure through time and remain relevant for future generations.” This is exactly what this new business plan from Eternal Ltd. has planned in store-a time of innovation, expansion, and long-term growth.
The entry of Blinkit and Hyperpure into the portfolio is transforming Zomato from being a food delivery service into a multi-business model. Blinkit is a quick commerce service, which will enable customers to receive ultra-fast deliveries for their instant needs. Hyperpure focuses on supplying fresh ingredients to restaurants. District is also a logistics unit that will add to Zomato’s supply chain and delivery systems, thus making it a fully integrated company offering more than just food.
This is a prima facie decision on integrating Blinkit and Hyperpure into the portfolio of Eternal Ltd., indicating a change in company policy from a purely diversified business, where every unit functions as a standalone with their own different set of leadership.
In line with this major change, Eternal Ltd. has also introduced a new structure with several CEOs. All business units – such as Zomato, Blinkit, Hyperpure, and District-will have a separate CEO who will be at the helm. The decentralized structure will allow decisions to be taken quicker and let every unit run profitably in their respective markets.
This new leadership approach will enable Eternal Ltd. to be more agile and responsive to the demands of the market, hence creating a stronger presence in domestic and international markets.
An essential part of the company is its business unit known as Hyperpure, which has a focus on fresh ingredients and high-quality supply to restaurants. As the industries of food delivery and restaurants move forward, one of the things that businesses can’t compromise with is quality supply. Hyperpure caters for restaurants by bringing in fresh produces, meats, and ingredients in order to allow them to serve their customers well.
This unit helped Zomato to be able to connect strongly with the food industry. Other than delivering products, it assisted the company to directly participate in improving restaurant operating quality by empowering businesses to help them better enhance the consumer’s experience.
The rebranding of Zomato into Eternal Ltd. is more than just a new name; it represents the company’s long-term goals of being a diversified, future-ready global corporation. In this regard, Eternal Ltd. aims to add new ventures that promote innovation while adopting decentralized leadership to build a more sustainable business that can change with the dynamic market trends.
The next move for Eternal Ltd. is to help build a strong market presence, introduce itself in new sectors, and make sure that the value goes to customers and partners alike. The company is hence positioned to move into a future where innovation, sustainability, and leadership come as a package.
