Acne is a primary skin problem that everyone faces multiple times in their life. Everyone is curious to know what causes acne and how to deal with acne-prone skin. The leading cause of acne is the excess sebum generation in the skin. Oily skin is more prone to acne.

Acne affects not only acne-prone skin but also skin types that are more prone to bacterial infections, and it may be caused by bacteria. However, many other things can also cause acne, such as improper skin care, hormonal changes, stress, and nutritional deficiencies.

I understand it is challenging to take care of acne-prone skin, but don’t worry because, for your help, I have created a guide with tips on dealing with acne-prone skin.

Tips To Deal With Acne Prone Skin

What is acne?

Acne is a common skin condition, ranging from run-of-the-mill whiteheads and blackheads to deeper papules and painful cysts. Hormonal influences also play a big role, which is one reason women are more prone to acne, especially during their menstrual cycle, during pregnancy, and menopause.

Give Each Acne Treatment At Least 4 Weeks To Work

When using acne cream or face skin care products, don’t change it too frequently because it is not magic that can happen overnight. Changing acne treatment after every few days seems adequate, but do you know it can worsen acne? Ance’s treatment needs time to work. Using a different product every few days can irritate your skin, causing new breakouts. Give each treatment 4 to 6 weeks for an effective result.

Use Different Creams

If one cream is not working on your skin, add a second cream, like a gentle probiotic calming lotion, to your treatment plan. Not all acne appears with one cause. There are different causes of acne. Bacteria, clogged pores, oil, and inflammation can all result in acne.

With the second treatment, you can attack the second cause of acne. If you are using a cream that contains benzoyl peroxide, you should use another cream that contains other acne-fighting ingredients.

Eat Healthy Diet

While there is no scientific proof that chocolate and greasy foods aggravate acne, research shows that less sugar and carbohydrates result in decreased breakouts.

A food diary can help determine which foods are causing acne breakouts. Eating a healthy diet is always good advice, and it may also help the skin stay crystal clear.

Dont Ignore Your Hair

When you have oily hair, you must wash it more often than dry hair. Make sure to keep your hair clean to protect your skin. This prevents breakouts on the forehead and face.

Also, use hair products carefully, like pomades and gels, because some can worsen the acne. Not only this, but the hairband that covers your head can result in acne because of sweating.

Use Water Based And Oil-Free Makeup

Makeup is very effective for refreshing your look, but be careful because you might be making your breakouts worse. Products containing grease, cocoa butter, mineral oil, or cold cream can aggravate acne. Make sure not to use mineral-based products that include silica, titanium dioxide, and zinc oxide, which help absorb oil and minimize redness.

Don’t Touch Your Face

Every time your finger meets your face, and if you touch it, it transfers dirt and oils. Breaking this habit is difficult, but do you know it’s essential?

Consider frequently washing your hands with soap or warm water. Wash your face after eating or after coming from outside.

Stay Hydrated

If you don’t have a habit of staying hydrated, make it to control acne breakouts. Dehydration gives your skin a dull appearance and also promotes inflammation and discoloration. A hydrated body means drinking 8-ounce glasses of water each day. Drinking after some practices is mandatory, especially

  • After exercise
  • When pregnant or nursing
  • When spending time in a hot or humid environment

Use Moisturizer

If you have never tried this before, then try it now because it makes a huge difference for acne-prone skin. A good moisturizer will help your skin stay hydrated. Be careful when buying moisturizers as some moisturizers also contain oil, synthetic fragrance, or other ingredient that can irritate your skin and cause pimples. Tour the ingredient list before adding any moisturizer to your shopping cart.

Limit Makeup Use

Applying a lot of makeup daily may be a reason behind your acne. I know makeup is typically used to cover pimples, but doing so could clop pores and trigger breakouts. If you can’t control the use of makeup, then try to buy foundation or concealer that is noncomedogenic and fragrance-free.

In addition, when you are back home, wash off your makeup gently, especially before going to bed. People with acne-prone skin are more likely to experience acne. But to help you deal with acne breakouts, I have prepared a full guide for excessive acne. Prevention can help you prevent acne, but not every time because there are also some other reasons behind your acne growth, like hormonal changes, stress, genetics, and diet. In addition, as I have mentioned above, certain medications can also result in the growth of acne.
