Meghan Markle made her long-awaited return to TV with the premiere of her new cooking and lifestyle show on Netflix on Tuesday. The eight-episode series, which was filmed near Meghan’s home in Montecito, California, shows her as a modern housewife who enjoys cooking, making, and having people over in a friendly and casual way.
Netflix describes the show as “inspiring” and a reinvention of the lifestyle genre. Directed by Michael Steed, known for his work on “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown,” the series is executive produced by Meghan herself. Each episode revolves around creative projects such as baking bread with a friend, hosting a game night, and preparing a brunch, all while offering helpful tips along the way.
As she makes crepes in one episode, Meghan shares the series’ guiding principle: “We’re not in the pursuit of perfection. We’re in the pursuit of joy.” Since stepping back from royal duties five years ago, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have built a new life in Southern California with their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.Now, Meghan is making her mark in the entertainment and culture industries, just like Martha Stewart and Ina Garten did before her.
A lot of well-known people have also been on the show, such as Mindy Kaling (actress) and Roy Choi (well-known chef). Everyone can see what Meghan is up to when she cooks and talks with her friends. One episode has Meghan Markle and Kaling making tea sandwiches that kids can eat while they talk about their childhood memories of fast food.
She and Choi make Korean-style fried chicken while drinking champagne and talking about old school dances. Meghan also bakes focaccia with Delfina Blaquier, the wife of polo player Nacho Figueras, reflecting on her time in Argentina. Unlike traditional stand-and-stir cooking shows, Meghan’s series takes a more conversational approach, akin to “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” but centered around food.
The featured recipes are simple yet flavorful, emphasizing fresh, local ingredients—think a one-pot tomato pasta, quiche made with eggs from her own chickens, and a salt-baked fish filled with herbs. Throughout the series, Meghan’s love for cooking is evident. “I love feeding people,” she says. “It is probably my love language.”

Meghan Markle is using the show to build her brand in other ways besides the show itself. This spring, she will start a new leisure business called As Ever, which will sell things like fruit jams. The fact that she is working with Lemonada Media on a planned show makes her even more powerful in the media and society businesses.
It feels like a sneak peek at how Meghan’s brand will change over time because of how friendly and open her series is. Honest conversations, easy-to-follow recipes, and glimpses into her personal life make this show fun to watch for people who like a modern take on housework. People will get a real, up-close look at the Duchess in this new project, whether they want to see her cooking, her famous guests, or her thoughts on life.
