But before you believe everything you read online, you should know that these stories are nothing but a viral hoax. In this article, we will tell you the truth behind the Lil Tay car accident rumor, how it started, who is behind it, and how it affected the controversial internet sensation and her family. Read on to find out the real story of Lil Tay and her brother Jason Tian, and why they are not in any danger.

Who is Lil Tay and How Did She Become Famous?

Lil Tay, whose real name is Tay Tian, is a 16-year-old internet personality and musician who was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but moved to Vancouver, Canada, at an early age.

She first gained attention in 2017, when she started posting videos on Instagram and YouTube, where she claimed to be a billionaire and showed off her lavish lifestyle, including luxury cars, designer clothes, and a Hollywood Hills mansion.

She also called herself “the youngest flexer of the century” and used profanity and insults to challenge other social media stars, such as Bhad Bhabie, RiceGum, and Woah Vicky.

Lil Tay’s videos quickly went viral, attracting millions of views and followers, as well as criticism and controversy. Many people accused her of lying, faking, and being exploited by her family, especially her mother Angela Tian, a former real estate agent, and her half-brother Jason Tian, who allegedly coached and managed her online persona.

Lil Tay defended her actions and said she was happy with her fame and fortune, and that she was making music and collaborating with celebrities, such as Chief Keef and Jake Paul. She even released a rap song called “Money Way” in 2018, which showcased her wealth and attitude.

In mid-2018, Lil Tay’s social media career was abruptly halted when her father, Christopher Hope, a lawyer, petitioned the superior court of Canada for full custody and control of her career as an influencer. This action was taken due to concerns about her well-being and education.

Lil Tay’s accounts became inactive and her posts were deleted, leaving her fans wondering about her whereabouts and future. Lil Tay remained silent for almost five years until a shocking announcement was made from her Instagram account in 2023, claiming that she had died.

But was this true, or another hoax? And what really happened to Lil Tay during her absence?

On August 9, 2023, a post was shared on Lil Tay’s Instagram account announcing the sudden and tragic deaths of her and her brother Jason Tian in a car accident. The post expressed deep sadness and described the loss as unexpected and shocking. The family asked for privacy during this difficult time as they grieve the loss of both siblings, whose passing is still being investigated.

The news quickly spread online, with fans, celebrities, and media outlets offering their condolences and tributes.

Many people believed the news, as Lil Tay had been absent from social media for years, and there were no signs of her being alive or well. Some sources even claimed to have eyewitness accounts or details of the alleged car accident.

However, the next day, Lil Tay resurfaced with a statement via her family to TMZ, claiming that her account had been hacked and she was alive and well. She also said that her father, Christopher Hope, was behind the hoax, and that he had been trying to sabotage her planned comeback.

She accused him of abusing her, controlling her, and stealing her money. She said that she had been living in hiding, fearing for her life and that she had been working on new music and projects.

In addition, she expressed her gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support and affection. She also assured that further information will be disclosed shortly.

The confirmation of Lil Tay’s statement came from Meta, the parent corporation of Facebook and Instagram, who stated that they assisted the 14-year-old in recovering her account which was compromised by a hacker.

They also said that they were investigating the incident and taking measures to prevent such hoaxes in the future.
