North Texas Rapper G$ Lil Ronnie and 5-Year-Old Daughter Fatally Shot at Forest Hill Car Wash

In a tragic incident that has shocked the North Texas community, local rapper G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter were fatally shot at a car wash in Forest Hill on Monday morning. The shooting occurred just before 11 a.m. at Slappy’s Express Car Wash on Forest Hill Drive.

According to Forest Hill police, a 30-year-old man and his young daughter were in a bay at the car wash when two men exited a four-door Kia and opened fire. Responding officers attempted life-saving measures, but both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members identified the victims as Chuckie Smith, known in the music industry as G$ Lil Ronnie, and his 5-year-old daughter, who had just celebrated her birthday on Sunday. Smith’s aunt, Stella Houston, expressed her grief and confusion over the targeted attack, stating, “He was a rapper. He didn’t bother nobody. He was a family man, and he was going around rapping, okay. Why would you target him?”

Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple rounds of gunfire. Becky Johnson, who lives across the street from the car wash, recalled, “The first time, and then it was half a second, and I heard six more. Then, three minutes later, I heard two. During the incident she saw people running and hiding behind their cars.

Authorities think the gunshot was aimed specifically at Though their name has not been revealed, one of the suspects has been located and a warrant for their arrest has been issued.

The second suspect’s identity remains unknown. Additional officers were dispatched to manage the large crowd that gathered at the scene following the shooting.

G$ Lil Ronnie was renowned for his storytelling ability in the rap scene, with popular tracks like “Hoodfame Killumanti,” “Wops,” and “Crash Pt. 4.” Released in 2023, his most recent album, “Literally,” was followed by the single “Chase” in 2024. Often on social media, he posted special times with his daughter to emphasize their strong relationship.

Supporters and other artists are sharing their grief on social media, and the Forest Hill community is suffering from this loss. Authorities advise everyone with knowledge to contact the Forest Hill Police Department; the investigation is still under way.

This event represents the fourth and fifth murders in Forest Hill this year, a far cry from zero in 2024. Two people died inside a car store in February; a woman separately suffered terrible injuries from a stray bullet in her lawn.
