George Lowe, Renowned Voice Actor of Space Ghost, Passes Away at 67

George Lowe, the well-known voice actor known for his performance of Space Ghost in the cult classic series “Space Ghost Coast to Coast,” died on March 2, 2025 at 67. His spokesperson verified that he died after an extended illness.

George Lowe was born in Dunedin, Florida on November 10, 1957. He started working as a radio host when he was only 15 years old, at the local station WWJB. In the 1980s, he switched to voice acting and finally got the famous part of Space Ghost in 1994. “Space Ghost Coast to Coast” was a groundbreaking cartoon talk show where the show’s name superhero had mocking conversations with famous people. The show ran from 1994 to 1999 and was later brought back, making Lowe’s voice even more recognizable in animation.

Not only did George Lowe do voice work for “Space Ghost Coast to Coast,” but he also did voice work for “Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” “Robot Chicken,” and “Squidbillies.” It was great that he could do a lot of different things and that his voice was so special.

There was more to Lowe than just being a good voice actor. He loved art and made it his life’s work. His large collection had works by famous artists like Claes Oldenburg and Andy Warhol. He liked modern art, as this shows.

Tributes have poured in from colleagues and friends. Casper Kelly, writer-producer-director behind Adult Swim’s “Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell,” described Lowe as a “wonderfully kind and funny man” and a “brilliant improviser.” Voice-over actor Billy West lauded him as “one of the best of the best VOs ever,” noting his generosity and humor.

Executive producer Tim Frasier of iHeartRadio’s Premiere Networks shared his sadness and said, “one of the funniest people I’ve ever known and one of the nicest people to ever exist.”

Although George Lowe passed away, his achievements in the arts and animation will always be cherished. Both peers and fans will cherish his original approach and creative force.
