Abby Grossberg-Fox Lawsuit Resolved with $12 Million Settlement

Abby Grossberg, a former Fox News producer, reached a settlement with the network for $12 million on June 30, 2023. She had accused Fox News of creating a hostile and unfair workplace. Additionally, she claimed that they pressured her into providing false testimony during a legal deposition.

Abby Grossberg’s lawyer, Parisis G. Filippatos, stated that this settlement concludes all her claims against Fox and the individuals she named in her complaints, which include Tucker Carlson, a former host, and some producers from his team. Following this resolution, Abby Grossberg’s legal team has filed a request to dismiss any remaining lawsuits against Fox News. With this Abby Grossberg Fox’s lawsuit comes to an end.

Abby Grossberg: Career at Fox News

In 2019, Ms. Grossberg was hired by Fox News as a top producer for Maria Bartiromo. Three years later, she was appointed head of booking for Mr. Carlson’s team. They never met in person, but they chatted a lot through email, text, and video calls. Mr. Wells led Mr. Tucker Carlson’s crew in New York until he got fired. Justin Wells, former producer for Tucker Carlson, tweeted denying Abby Grossberg’s claims and allegations against Tucker Carlson and his team.

Abby Grossberg Fox Lawsuit: Details

This year, Abby Grossberg filed a lawsuit against Fox News, its parent company, and several of its executives. She alleged that she faced harassment, and retaliation, and was unfairly blamed for the defamation suit brought by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News. Grossberg alleged that she was dismissed for voicing her worries. Fox News rejected these claims.

In her lawsuits, Grossberg, who worked on Maria Bartiromo’s show, portrayed Fox News as a poisonous and sexist setting. Dominion charged both Fox News programs with defamation, and court documents demonstrate that Grossberg was instrumental in producing some of the questioned broadcasts. In April, Fox News settled Dominion’s lawsuit for $787.5 million just before the trial was due to begin.

Grossberg has filed two lawsuits against her former employer. She dropped one in Delaware and intends to refile it in another location.  The lawsuit she filed in New York claims that she was unjustly denied a promotion on the show Sunday Morning Futures. She also claimed that the work environment on Tucker Carlson Tonight was so hostile towards women that it caused her to experience a nervous breakdown. She is seeking compensation for financial losses and emotional distress.

After she sued, Ms. Grossberg slowly shared audio recordings from her Fox days with other news organizations. These recordings showed that Mr. Carlson had a big impact on the Republican Party. They also let everyone know that Rudy Giuliani, former President Trump’s lawyer, didn’t have proof of voter fraud. There were even conversations between Senator Ted Cruz and Ms. Bartiromo about checking the 2020 election results.

Fox News dismissed Grossberg on March 24 for disregarding instructions not to discuss information pertaining to the Dominion case in her lawsuit against the network. Fox News maintains that her termination was based on her performance. Independent outside counsel was engaged to investigate her concerns, and the network was determined to vigorously defend against her claims, which they believed are without merit and contained false accusations. No response was received from Carlson’s attorney when asked for comment.

Abby Grossberg Fox: The Settlement

In a statement released on Friday, June 30, 2023, it was stated by Grossberg that the claims and accusations made publicly are still supported, but those claims have now been withdrawn due to the settlement of $12 million that has been reached. The fact that Fox News has taken both Grossberg and her legal claims seriously has provided encouragement.

Additionally, based on the discussions held with Fox News, optimism is felt regarding this resolution, which signifies a positive step toward the network’s treatment of women and minorities in the workplace. Furthermore, it was mentioned by Grossberg that commenting further on the legal disputes with Fox will be avoided, but the commitment to speaking out on issues such as journalism, equality, and maintaining a respectful and dignified workplace remains unchanged.

The attorney, Parisis Filippatos, expressed confidence in the future and stated that Abby will have more to say once she has had sufficient personal time to process the significant events that have occurred in her life over the past few years. This week, Fox News announced a new primetime schedule, with Jesse Watters Primetime occupying the 8 p.m. ET spot formerly held by Tucker Carlson’s show. The network has reportedly let go of the remaining staff members from Carlson’s show.
